I made that comment in jest to a suggestion on a similar matter on another forum. I should have been more clear about that, but the bourbon didn't provide much clarity last night.

That alone would keep me from buying that exact pistol. Would bother the hell out of me!

Can anyone on this site explain how a 1911 ends up with that over hang ? Can it wear itself into this condition ?

I had this exact problem on an SA MC Operator. Sent it back no questions asked and got a flawless gun back in less than 19 days.

Is it something that existed when you bought the gun? Or did it develop over time?

Nope. Do not agree with that at all. Just because some poor soul buys a shoddy product does not provide ANY relief from blame for the manufacturer.

I've been considering a S.A. for my next 1911 purchase . Now I would only consider it if I can hold it in my hands , look it over real good , then get a helluva deal . S.A. should realize , the internet reaches everyone . An old sales adage said , a happy customer may tell one or two people , an unhappy customer may tell ten . Thanks to the internet multiply that by at least a thousand .

Any gun should be like that. Look it over, work the action, though I have bought quit a few guns here from members. I always looked at the pics, checked the price on other places to be sure I was getting a good deal before I said it's mine.

That is pretty bad, and I would be trying to get to another customer service level at SA. However, does the gun function properly? Excuse my ignorance, but would this not just be a cosmetic defect, or could this be a problem with reliability, accuracy, safety?

Thanks Steve Owens for showing the pictures of my springfield, And letting everyone on here to be aware of the shotty work. I understand now that I need to check a 1911 over a lot better. my first time buying a 1911 style gun and I got burned, I've learned from that. With that said doesn't excuse the way springfield armory chose to deal with this problem. I was basically told it's with in specs do what ever I feel the need to do, if I'm not paying them they aren't fixing it. I pleaded nicely with the woman on the phone , telling her how I have other springfields and how much I like them, and noe of that matters, it's with in specs, pissed me off I told her they are losing customer for life , and very snooty she says sorry to hear that, then I said and I do plan on letting everyone I can about this , and she said you do what you feel the need to. Regardless of my ignorance of buying this gun, there customer service is shotty and should not treat consumers that way!

No need for you to apologize or feel bad.

Give it one more try, call back and ask to speak to the CS manager. If that fails, write off SA for good.

Yes it functions flawlessly , accurate as I can be with it, basically cosmetic issue! Being my first 1911 style pistol my ignorance of what to look for isn't a excuse but they way there customer service rep treated me is ridiculous. That was they second rep that said if your not willing to pay we aren't fixing it.

I pretty much have written them off, that was the second person I talked to already, both told me if you pay for it we will fix it. Lesson learned I guess and shame on you Sprinfield, I'm no millionaire but I do like expensive guns and work hard to buy them, and like it's been stated before on here buyer be ware, I feel like making a u tube video of me shooting there emp with a real gun and blasting it all over . Lol

I had a similar issue with a gun, it was within 'specs', but the safety stuck out past the grip, causing a bloody hand after 30 rounds or so. Bad CS will not get companies more customers. Even had one gun sent in to have known issue with the sights 'dots' falling out, they sent it back with expired, very dim night sights...

I would try again to get someone higher up in CS, I have even sent a link to a forum when I was having problems... Bad news travels fast.
