Engraved Ruger Old Army

I knew as soon as I got my hands on a David Clements.50 caliber Ruger Old Army conversion that I would have to have it engraved. About 5 months ago I sent my baby off to Tyler Gun Works to let one of their artisans do their magic. They called yesterday to say it is ready to come home! To say I am pleased is an understatement! Rocky Sharp did a superb job

That's great. My last was a Liberty Model stainless Old Army. They are simply the best BP revolver ever made.

I have always been curious about the Clements .50's. In my Old Army's, the best accuracy that I got was with 144gr. .457 round ball at 1,000-1,050fps. As the charge and velocity increased from there, the groups spread as well. That just seemed to be the sweet spot on a few OA's. Is the "ideal" velocity range the same with the .50? A pure lead roundball at 1,000fps+-?

Congratulations. That is beautiful.

Those are some perfect stocks (walnut burl?) to compliment the engraving, too. 👍👍

The upper burl looks like an earless dog facing to the left (towards the muzzle), and the lower one looks like a “pig-man” in armor. (Yeah; I may be a bit “disturbed” this evening. 🤣)
