Today is the Autumn Equinox. Enjoy your 12 hours of day and night.

Anyone have any fun or interesting Fall traditions?

There is a Wiccan community up in Cactus Springs, about 30 miles north of here. They got a permanent altar set up and do celebrate the fall equinox giving blessings and such to their Dark Mother, they'll be worshipping all night long till sunrise. I dont know much about that religion, yet another surprise awaiting the unsuspecting desert traveler.

I did a little reading up on your new neighbors. It looks like they are.......peaceful.

Well, if you head up that way, be wary of those who weight the same as a duck.

Cactus Springs is comprised of seven - eight houses, I remember years ago seeing a "Beware Witch Lives Here" sign in front of one of them, so they must have a sense of humor. The altar is a concrete and stone circular structure with pillars going around with an open top cupola. Get 8 -12 people in that thing at a time.
I never spoke to them folks, seen them various times gathering around it.

The OP is definitely not from the Southern United States. Fall never occurs here anymore.

The gates of hell have opened and someone left the guard shack.

I hung out with a wiccan chick some years back in my more wild days. The pentagram tattoos inside her thighs freaked me out a bit but I got over it. She was a peaceful person but was about as devout as I am a Catholic. Her grandpa invented the first auto flush thing for urinals. Interesting gal.
