They have come A LONG WAY these past several years!

I like buying cheap knives, both folders & fixed blades for kitchen duties, or to throw in my camp box for kitchen duties...

Not the best in any category, but impressive for the money.

I have a Frost fixed blade as an example ($5?) I bought years & years ago (15 years ago?) that would shock most people how well it holds an edge!

Worst handle geometry, but REMARKABLE considering it cost $5!

Ive NEVER seen another Frost I ever liked...
Prolly 420 steel, but heat treated THE RIGHT WAY (think Buck Knives).

I couldnt list all of mine here, but if they werent worthy, they wouldnt still be here!

Im a DIEHARD Whitetail deer hunter since I was 11 years old (I know a thing or two about knives).

Bob Dozier lives about 35-40 miles from me, & I have owned upwards of 30 or more of his customs.
Talked to him for 30 years?
Not to mention all the other famous custom makers Ive owned.

Id rather pay $25 for a cheap fixed blade or folder (how good they are nowdays) & fill my kitchen drawer with those as over-performing/vs./price type knives, than buy overpriced non-performing kitchen knives that dont serve well in either roll!
I LOVE having a drawer full of folders & fixed blade "outdoor/skinning/bushcraft" knives in the kitchen that I can go & grab for wilderness duties also if need be.

    Anyone buy a CHEAP knife

If Im gonna blow $3-$400 or more on a knife, that money would go towards a gun!

Cheap knives have come A LONG WAY!

0214192309i.jpg I made this knife 10 years ago (I have a metal cutting bandsaw).
O1 tool steel, heat treated by Jerry Holmes (prolific knife maker).
    4.5" blade.
I have $5 in in it.
I have some EXCELLENT Mahogany scales for it (1952 vintage).
A little sanding, some scales (G10 1/4" rod), it will prolly be the best $5 knife ever!

I buy a lot of cheap knives that are knockoffs of Spyderco probably. I give them to guys on the job site when they don't have one or when they help me out with something. I have a lot of Spyderco knives and I have to admit the knockoffs are pretty good.

Sheffield Black Hills. It’s tough, sharp and cheap. The Glock of pocket knives.
I buy them 20-30 at a time. Carry one every day and have them in every rat hole that I’d ever need one.

I've got a couple Steel Will knives (Cutjack and Modus) with D2 steel that I'm pretty impressed with.

No, but I’ve received a few. Notably, one the NRA gave me which was made in China. Certainly a “WTF?” moment for me.

Think of the amount of money the NRA could be spending on 2nd A rights instead of all the trinkets and giveaways they do!

I can easily agree with you. But, keep in mind, some people are attracted to the “free, shiny things” method of promotion or sales. Sad, but true.

I have 6 different TwoSun models from Ebay that range from OK to Very Good for the money. Both the titanium and G10 versions of the TS27 are nicely done. I had a few of the titanium frame TS27s engraved to give away as gifts to long time friends....Turned out great....they loved receiving them. The D2 steel I can sharpen easily. Some of the M390 steel versions are a PITA to sharpen.

This knife was either cheap or expensive, depending on how you look at it. I got it “free” from Crazy John with the purchase of a new Les Baer 1911 A1E3605F-FFA3-4CA4-9673-9A05CD220BAF.jpeg

Group pucture of 6 of my favorite cheap folders (all under $40).

I have several others that I LOVE (CRKT & Kershaw) but need to be refinished in a BAD WAY.
