Fake/Replica Geissele Rails

I'm new to the AR world. Is there anyway to identify key characteristics of a fake/replica Geissele rail. I'd ask Geissele, but they are currently on vacation. Thanks for any information you can provide.

I received a fake razor 1-6 on a fake geissele mount:
Light Product Camera accessory Camera lens Cameras & optics

I will snap some photos of the rail when I can.

No need to ask where the fakes were made 🙄

If you did not buy it from them directly or any major USA reseller such as Midway, Brownells, etc and used ebay etc, it most likely is fake.
TONS of fakes out there. We bought my son a DD MK18 airsoft rifle for christmas and the quad rail is so accurate it's scary. Buyer beware.

Seems like it would take a lot of effort to copy the Mk1 Mod 1
My wife found bootleg choco pies at a Chinese grocery store in Chicago once. So if they are going to copy things with that small of a margin…best believe they are going to clone Geissele. If you don’t know what a choco pie is…you are missing out.

It appears that rails, mountsand parts have been cloned for at least 3 years so far. I’m not seeing them copy the logo tho.

I never knew how bad the cloning was until I was recently researching DD for a friend.DD has an entire web page dedicated to it. (See second link)

@TexasAC Never heard of a Choco pie haha. But, I don’t have a sweet tooth really.

I’ve seen that HAO link, but I did check it the DD one. I’m not familiar enough with DD’s products to know how close the fakes are to the originals. But, I imagine they’re quite close.

Thanks for sharing. Guess anything is possible out there. I might have live on the edge for a bit and report back.

Honestly, I’ve only bought Geissele stuff when they do their deep discounts. I don’t trust anywhere else. Just like the guy said a couple of posts above.

The problem is that I’m not interested in any of Geissele’s current designs (well, maybe the Mk8 a little bit). So, if I want a MK1/2/3, the only way I’m getting one is second hand. Unless I’m missing something. Again, I’m new to the AR world so maybe Geissele has offered the old rails before in some other way. But, I’ve not seen this case in my limited research.
One of my young compadres here decided to save money by purchasing from Amazoone a Chinesium "Wilcox G24" night vision helmet mount at less than 1/3 the price I paid for my furr real Wilcox. While we were out "navigating terrain" late one evening I heard him let out a string of very bad words when his "Deeluxxxe Chinesium Wilcox style G24" mount schitt the bed and broke. Good thing the goggles were dummy corded to the helmet.

Fake/replica stuff is nothing but counterfeit. Don't support Chinese intellectual/industrial theft.

Buy stuff from reliable vendors
Might have the lost the plot with this one a bit.

But, thanks all for the feedback.
A friend bought a bunch of parts over that he purchased at a local gun show. At first it all seemed legit. Upon further inspection everything except the upper, lower, BCG and barrel were either Chinese knockoffs or airsoft parts. I told him to take everything back, and that you can't get a Trijicon ACOG for $97. Buy once, cry once, your life may depend on the rifle you build.

Again, I think the plot got lost with this one. I wasn’t asking if there’s a way that I can I get a Geissele rail at no/little cost. I actually haven’t mentioned nor implied a cost at all.

I only asked to know how to spot fake/replica rails. Based upon the unrelated answers I’ve gotten so far, I don’t think anyone knows for certain. And that’s okke.

I do appreciate the response, however. Take care.

Sorry, we are good for thought shifts

There seems to be “airsoft” counterfeit parts of nearly every aspect of an AR.
99% of the time, there are little ques that may help to prevent buying a fake part. These really don’t apply when buying on the net.
Logos or markings that aren’t even or level. Low weight of the part is a give away as well.

I bought a set of DD sights here, used. I believe the seller told me he picked them up at a gun-show. I should have keyed in on this. Gun show parts are either stupidly expensive or a smokin deal. The good deal parts are most often airsoft Chinese copies

Good or bad, reputation is a lot of what you are judged by here. The seller, in my case, is a good guy and I’m 100% sure he was unaware of the parts origin.

The only way I can be sure you get legit parts is to buy directly from the maker or a know retailer. Midway, Brownells, V1Tactical, Rainier, BCM……….

If you find parts at a greatly reduced cost, 10-15%+ versus other retailers, or they are advertising a fire sale or it’s Turkey Day, I’d be concerned of their origin.

Thanks for your response. That is what I wondering: can the airsoft/replica/fakes be differentiated from the genuine parts.

The “buying from reputable dealers to gain certainty” comment goes without saying. But, in some cases, that’s not an option when the item of concern is “out of print”.

This was much just my own curiosity. With my other hobby, because everything I’m interested in is out of production, I’m most often not in a position to buy from reputable dealers. So, I had to build a knowledge base about how to discriminate genuine parts. Just trying to do same here, if possible.

Thanks again. Take care.
Airsoft parts are lighter, have sharper edges that are rougher and sometimes feel like saw teeth. At first glance and feel they can seem like the real thing. I’ve built a lot of ARs and sometimes you can just tell, but if I haven’t been using, building or cleaning my rifles in a while I loose that feel for the difference just by picking up the parts. Price is sometimes a give away, where you buy them is also a give away. Even after all these years optics are tough to spot. The knockoffs are getting really good, I only buy those from the manufacturer.
