Ok. So I'll be honest I'm sure this question has been hashed out before but I'd love to see ideas and thoughts on this.

I have been a long time Colt fan and my second choice has always been Springfield in this price range. I believe you get a 1911 that is "built right" with Colt and you recieve a close second with Springfield. That being said the only SA I currently own is a TRP Operator so that might be different across the board for other guys and gals.

I honestly have very little experience with DW outside of handling one at a LGS. The DW A2 was a sight to behold though.

That being said I'm looking to expand my collection and see what a DW Specialist is all about. Currently my bar for a no nonsense 1911 has been set very high by Colt M45A1s and the Series 70 Govt. So I'm hoping that the DW will live up to that!

I'd love to have another LB. Sadly my Ultimate recon I had awhile back was riddled with severe issues. The LB UTC really speaks to my love of a basic working 1911 though.

As does the DW 1911A2 however the world we live in now lights have become the "cool" thing to do. That being said I will really consider a Specialist over a newer CCU if I can fid one locally.

I want an indestructible black finish on a single stack .45 ACP 1911 that just works.

I like the made in USA part so I will stick with Colt. I have looked over the DW's at SHOT and they are nice but they are made from world sourced components. That is not something I can get into.

C O L T ! I do have several DW’s which are nice, but several needed tuning or replacement. Of the 7-8 Colts I’ve bought, all ran great out of the box. Since my first priority is reliability they get the nod. I also have experience with Springers, and still own one, but their reliability out of the box runs 50/50, in my experience.
