I have decided to put gold beads on some of the my 1911's and have noticed various companies make them, all with slight differences. What is your favorite or preferred 'off the rack' gold bead front sight?

Ted Yost gold line. To me much better alignment and easier to see. This sight is now marketed by John Harrison. Check his web site for good pictures of the sight.

I have a couple gold beads installed by John Harrison. John “domes” the gold bead to allow for maximum light reflection. I’ve never tried John’s gold line front sight, but hard to beat Mr. Harrison’s work. Best of luck with your decision.

My favorites were made by gunsmiths, though I've used 10-8's brass bead on a couple of guns and like them.

    Joe Chambers made these-

    David Clevinger made this one-

Mark Hartshorne drilled this Heinie front sight and fit the gold bead from a S&W revolver sight to it-

These are the 10-8 brass bead-
