I want to get started with some basic 1911 work.

Can fellow Addicts recommend files and stones to perform the following?
Maybe the best place to get them – Brownells?

    Tuning extractor
    Fitting trigger
    Fit firing pin stop
Making cut in back of slide stop to ease installing slide stop
    Fitting thumb safety

    Thanks,
    Charlie

I started with a quality set of needle files, a #2 and #4 file, a white ceramic bench stone, a set of small ceramic stones (round, triangular, square), and a few Arkansas stones. All from Brownells. :)

Edit: But you have to be careful, otherwise your initial tool purchases can snowball and end up looking like this: IMG_0025.jpeg

Otto frei for files. I use sandpaper on sanding sticks much more that stones. Save the stones for trigger work.
