Finally finished setting up my G19. I went with 10-8 sights, brass bead insert up front, beavertail since I ride my hand high on the grip from shooting 1911s, and grip tape. I'm taking this to a 2 day advanced handgun course later this month so Im putting my 1911s in the safe and carrying, practicing, shooting this exclusively until then.

Blayglock, I've never had the chance to ask this of another shooter or have had the opportunity to shoot one with the modification, so please excuse my ignorance.

That added beavertail component: does that, in combination with the current generation's flat back-strap, get the Glock's grip angle closer to that of 1911s?

I have that same sight set on my G-19. I think you are going to to like it.

Mine is a Gen 3. In my hands it does get it closer yes but not quite. It mainly keeps me from getting slide bite.

Thanks for the details. I will have to try one, I guess!

So you are trying to get your Glock to have a "1911 feel"? Why not just leave "perfection" alone and shoot the real McCoy. :tongueout:

    Sorry man, couldn't resist.

Lol no I'm not saying that. The grip angle on a G19 does not bother me but getting bit does. I hold the G19 (&17) in equal regards to the 1911 as a "fighting" handgun. I know I know I see the shadow of the ban hammer looming large over my (handsome) head.

Glock 19 is a 'must-have' handgun for everybody.

I like it. I need to see what mods are possible for these guns. I am way behind the times here.

Glock mods are easy. You just need the right tool. :biggrin1:

Well there are lots of mods but you may not need any other than replace the stock sights. This set was $60. Not bad.

    Glock 19 $400
    10-8 Sights $60
    Beavertail- $20
Grip tape- $1.00 if that. I had it lying around.

Not bad for a gun equally suited to carry and competition.

Forgot to add: you only need a front sight tool and a set of punches to do any of the mods on this gun.

I've got night sights but the beavertail has me interested.

I want to change out my rear sight on my Glock 19 at some point, have Ameriglo night sights atm. Would like to switch to the solid rear.

It looks like you have a STORM LAKE barrel installed? Do you use the after market barrel exclusively or range only? How do you like it, any issues?

    Thanks!

I got it used locally with only 2 mags ever fired through it. I'm at 500 rounds currently and plan to do 500 more before my class which is an 800 rounder.
