I have a .45 that is having an issue. It began a year or so ago with a failure to fire, firing pin would not strike the shell.

So, its apart, but when depressing the firing pin block, the firing pin will not move forward, hence I cant remove the firing pin stop to get the firing pin out.

Since the firing pin refuses to go either direction, I'm assuming it's broken, hence the failure to strike the cartridge.

Any tricks or help to resolve this issue without destroying the stop itself?

Thanks

If you can't push it in tap firing pin with a punch. If you can remove firing pin stop and extractor. Now you'll need to remove firing pin. Can try small screw driver to prying it out. I'd first try spraying rust remover down the front of firing pin hole. Soak it and try pushing it.
