What would you say is the 686-4 equivalent in .44 mag?

I was looking at a 386PD because they're cool, but also kind of the opposite of a full lug 6" barrel.

image.jpg image.jpg I understand your choice of 357 but one or two bumps up could get you a great combo,I trimmed my lever selection to a 94 in 44m to go with numerous revolvers and a semi and a guide gun in 45-70 to compliment the BFR in the same.Either one is hard hitting enough for small to medium game. I love 357 but.

    You mentioned Lever-Action.

Ruger Blackhawk. See if you can find a 3-Screw version.

    The S&w model 69 is a .44 magnum on the .357 frame. I prefer the .44 magnum in a 629 though.

When I got my 686, I had zero experience with shooting a revolver. I was shocked at how sweet the single action trigger is. And it ain't bad in DA either.

I believe a longer barrel revolver is easier to be accurate with than a shorter one. The sight radius is the reason for that statement. If you twitch a short barrel just a little bit, the end of the barrel moves a lot. Longer barrel not so much.
The shorter barrels are just as accurate, just easier to move. That said, the minimum starting length, in my opinion would be a 4" version. 6" would be better, I think for someone starting out.
I have several of each and would be happy to part with one if you haven't found anything yet.

CFAFA517-8208-4D35-9C6A-0F662C21000D.jpeg One more thing on a 44 m as a revolver pick. The strength of rugers are excellent for reloaders to make the same loads for rifle and pistol. 45-70 I’m more conservative.

In a .44 629 you want to look for a -2E or -3 and later, that means it has the endurance package. However, I have a -1 and it hasn't shown any signs of loosening up or timing issues. I also don't shoot a lot of magnums but just enough to keep up my skill with it.

You fellas all have very nice wheel guns. WOW

I won a bid on a S&W 686 357 SS Mag Plus 3", the 7 round model today. Watched a bunch of videos on YouTube. I couldn't find even one negative review or even a bad comment.

Hopefully I made a good buying decision. I'm sure the rubber grips are comfortable, but I want some dark hardwood polished ones. Probably will have it polished also. What do you guys think?

I have no ammo for this yet. So I've bid on 38 Special fmj, 357 mag. fmj and also hollow point 357 mag. On GB. Need to get a well made high quality black holster. It will get rotated as a carry.

Dang, it took me long enough to finally buy a revolver! Now I need a Henry lever in 357 too :)

    You're too kind.

That is a beautiful S&W. I think I'm gonna like the 3" as well.

Thought I was just a 1911 addict..wth, happened? This addiction knows no bounds
