Well Gentlemen, in the immortal words of Robert Burns " the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry,"..... for those of you who generously offered advice, kind words and donations to obtain a set of Dress Blues for our WW2 vet, I bring you this update. I visited him today to tell him of our plans, and had contacted a tailor to measure him for his uniform. Just as I started the conversation he jumped in and said "I already got them". Seems the only nurse who visits him that I hadn't talked to had made the necessary connections to get the uniform. I must admit that I was disappointed that "we" were not going to get the chance to fulfill his wish, but I guess the main thing is the positive outcome. I did tell him of the responses from all of you to my original post , the offers to help and contribute, and it brought tears to his eyes. "Why those people don't even know me, I'm nobody" "Well Jim" says I ," just a bunch of guys who care about the right things, and I am so proud to be associated with each and every one of them. And I am guys. Thanks to you all. Here are a couple pictures he gave me today of the Saipan landing and the 4th Marine Div. Post Office on Saipan.
