I believe most will see this as idiotic, some may enjoy or laugh at it, and a few may even get something out of it. Thank goodness there weren’t cameras like these in my prime since I’ve done a lot worse. lol. Much of what I record is kept unlisted, but thought I’d share this to maybe liven the forum up a bit to end 2018.

Why frozen mud? It was once suggested (jokingly I think) by another member several years ago. It sounded like a terrible idea to me, so I waited til it got cold and did it. That 1911 passed, but I somewhat cheated by placing blue tape over a few areas I didn’t want mud in. I needed to do it right with no cheating, except an ear plug protecting the muzzle. I’ve tested 1911’s in other scenerios as well, but there’s just something special about a 1911, mud, and a hatchet.

I won’t get into why I do this type of stuff, but in the end, it’s fun and a learning experience. These are the types of range trips I’ll never forget.

When I was packing them up the day before with mud, I thought there was no way these would perform. Guess you’ll have to watch the video to find out. I will note that the Cabot finish held up great and looks as it did the day I got it, just as Rob @AlchemyCustomWeaponry said it would. The Cerakote finish performed awesome on the BEC @lsbbigdog as well with no scractches to be found. The Rogers has several scratches from previous incidents, but the stainless is also did great. @crc wanted a video...so here you go. haha

But I thought a microscopic piece of dust would lock up a tightly fit 1911. I saw it on the internet.

BUT, they will already be proven to run or not! hehe

The BEC rocks. I think you would be pleased.

Hatchet does now have a few folds on the edge...

That's phenomenal, thank you for posting!
I've experienced proper function in an OCONUS desert environment... 1911s will work when faced with what Mr. Browning was asked to build a pistol to do over 100 years ago!

Nice work there, and I'd have no issue buying one of those 1911's.

Wow! Now I just wait until the temperature goes below freezing and immerse my Cabot in frozen mud overnight and it will change the unsightly three star trigger into a solid one. Hot damn, come on Mother Nature.
