Ordered this from Guncrafters last year, and just got it in today. Shoots awesome, trigger pulls like buttah, and can't stop looking at it. Now that I have an actual custom 1911, I can post pics with my high end grips just as 1911 porn for all you cool guys here (not posting expecting grip sales - I just love how photogenic 1911's are, and how they are great platforms to display my composites).

Derek has been great to work with, and my lord this gun is tight. Tolerences are so good that it was difficult to field strip to clean it before these pics. Planning to put 300 more rounds through it this weekend to loosen it up a bit.

Will post more as I have time. Grips not available through me direct - go through Black Rose Firearms if interested, and I'll let y'all know when GI gets more of my grips.

Material shown below is Chatoyant Carbon Fiber from my Wild Ribbon Flame mold, with four layers of 4mil copper interleaved, with 2K urethane topcoat. Grips were cut and beveled with wet diamond saw (not CNC), then shaped on diamond lap (dead flat geometry, unlike other common grips with rounded edges) to 270 grit, then hand sanded to 400, then topcoated. After the urethane hardened for a few days, they went back on the lap for 1200 grit final (hairy as hell to not cut through the finish), then heavy cut polishing compound, then machine glaze final.

The CCF polishes by itself fine without the finish, and will post pics of those soon, but the 3D chatoyance looks ten miles deep under the gloss of urethane.

The reason this has "unobtainium" in the title, is because there is no material even remotely close to my composites, and I don't sell it to grip makers either for a long list of reasons. Doesn't mean it's impossible to get.

I'm not seeing any pictures. It sounds nice, though.

    EDIT: It's working now.

Thanks everyone! I don't know it never showed up - I clicked post full image, and then it wouldn't let me edit the pic into it. I'll give it another try - uploading additional.

    That did it. Carry on.

Thanks! There is a certain elegance that the CCF has over the Dichrolam. I might whistle a different tune if I ever see Black Sea Dichrolam on a Kimber Sapphire or a Cabot Blue though.

    Thank you man!

Titanium Nitride I think. Hard as diamond. I tried buffing the underside (hidden) part of barrel just to see if it would polish - no evidence from white rouge. Its like an anodized hardcoat. I opted for it because I plan to make some grips with gold leaf interweave, and for my Titanium Burl material that has gold in it. Thanks !!

Very nice grips! What is something like that going to cost when it becomes available?

Thanks! Black Rose Firearms has several dozen different sets of my grips in stock, and he has two sets in the CF + copper 4X like the pic. One set is gloss coated, and the other is raw, uncoated, but polished (the CF is hard enough to take a satin / gloss). Both type look cool (see below), and I can't decide which I like best - lean toward gloss coating. Under $500.00 for the uncoated in 4X copper. The other grips are less $. His site is under renovation, but is highlighting my grips in a section under construction. https://www.blackrosefirearms.com/-...re-b-font-marquee-/black-rose-exclusives-3512
