Hi, so yep I have the GP Arms Patriot 4.1 steel frame, w 4x 4mm inline port.. the only change from stock is that I went with Atlas shielded ambi safety, that I ordered from Atlas and forwarded to Gilbert.
You can read my feelies about the 4.1 on an extensive/ exhaustive// review here

The short answer is, the steel framed Patriot is my favorite EDC gun i've shot, so far, ever..there's something about the weight, length, the recoil system and the balance that smashes all my elevator buttons.
Platypus- I've been stalking one of these guns since they launched but the chain grip and no bull barrel, were deal breakers for me.
When a shop I've been in touch with got a few, J3 Armory,
@J3 Armory, (great guy btw) I thought about it for a few days and even though I was in <3 with the Patriot, I've been looking for a 2nd EDC solution, 'to run an enclosed optic on'. Anyway, that was my justification.
I shot the Platypus on the way back from the LGS, first without optic or light mounted. It was hot and moist out. My range has unconditioned air..100+. No optic or light, I put 4 mags down range and beat it out of there.
The trigger was 3-3.5lbs but maybe seemed like 4..
The prickle grip is amazing, I was sweating bullets and the gun didn't move. The texture had just enough bitey but also seemed like it would be fine for AIWB quick runs or with a tshirt layer, for all day carry.
The recoil wasn't really a factor but since I'm used to shooting a light bearing, steel frame 4.1", inline ported gun, it was noticeably spicier// more spicy. That night, I mounted an RCR and x300u. USA FTW.
The following night, I shot 4 mags through the Platypus, mixed 9, some junk steel, a few self defense JHP and Underwood monolithic Xtreme Defender. It ate it all.
With the optic, it was for me, even more accurate than the day before. The first few shots after zero, I was laying them into the first hole I made, which for a second, made me think I was missing the target.
With the chandelier hanging off the front, it had a little less spice than the day before.
So then I shot the Patriot and though it's not an apples v apples, comparison- alloy frame/ no inline port, the Patriot just felt better. I don't think I can say that adding an inline port, would make them equal but obviously it would be a closer discussion. As it is, they are not close.
Platy is a great gun and I get it, what the reviewers and respondents have shared but I'd choose a steel frame Patriot, all day.
I don't get it, why folk prefer lighter guns. Is 8oz really a lot? Folk load their belts up with EDC gear, extra mags (which I carry in pockets) but go for the lightest gun possible..IMO, FTL.
IDK what that means for the Platypus. My Dad (80) really likes it. He was similarly accurate with it and did some of his best groups, while shooting it.
I suggested on the way back from the range, that I liked the Platypus but may be catch/ releasing it and my Dad said, maybe he'd like to keep it..

IDK. It was similar to the SFX9 I had and I'd probably say between the two, 6+months after shooting/ selling the SFX9, I'd probably take the Platypus between the 2.. but when you find an EDC gun that fits you, it's tough sledding for everything else.
I'd planned on sending it to Atlas Tactical for their Cimmerian inline/ comp port combo but I'm going to have a think on it.
I'm kind of kicking myself, as I should have waited for what's behind door number [3] to arrive before picking up the Platy--> as my Dad is getting his GP Arms steel belly Forza 3.1 this week.
--> I just spoke with Gilbert and it's shipping tomorrow. It will be the first steel framed Forza off the line..
Gilbert said it was a great shooter and thought we would be similarly happy with the performance.. here's a mid assembly pic.
I should have more pics to share and a new "early pre-review" posted, later this evening.
As you can see below--> my Dad also went with the Atlas safety and Atlas gold X-line trigger, paired with the GP Arms Gold TiN barrel. IMO it looks slickAF.
