    Hi Everyone,
I should have found this site before making my purchase, but such is fate. Yesterday I received my Para PX189S that I bought on Gunbroker. It is my first 1911 that I personally own. I was in the Army '72-75 and did occasionally carry a 1911 because I pulled duty to escort the payroll officer (I was a SP4). Back in those ancient times, when soldiers got paid they actually received greenbacks and protection was required. The only times I actually shot it was about 2-3 times a year, when I went to the range to play.

As fate would have it about 2 weeks ago while at my gun club's pistol range three Marine recruiters were next to me and we got to talking and pretty soon we started trading pistols. One of them had a Colt Gold Cup and I took a few shots. Well, the bug bit me and now I have my own 1911. Alas chambered in 9mm (I know it's heresy, but please forgive me).

Because I had to make some compromises in my purchase of the Para 18.9 I will be seeking advise elsewhere in the forum.

    Kindest regards.

Good luck with the Para, it will either be a great shooter or a complete dog.

    Hi Faawrenchbndr,
Thanks for your welcome, obviously you know something about the Para that I don't. Could you please explain? Also, what does COTEFT #8 mean?

Welcome sir. COTEFT #8 means your intellect is vastly superior to most humans on the planet. #1and #2 means you are a useless nut. The others all some meaning or another. Glad you could join us here but bring a sense of humor and thick skin then this little bit of internet heaven can be a blast. Enjoy!!!

Para has had very spotty qulity control over the last few years.
So,........it will either be a darn good one, or a complete dog.
