Here's one other thing to consider. I've got conventional gun safes, (top photo), but I've also got 2 big security cabinets. The cool thing about the security cabinets is that they are only one gun deep. If you need a long gun, you don't have to pull anything out first. You just grab it. Sure they're not as secure as a traditional, heavy gun safe is, but they're secure enough.

F14 Driver and now with Fedex perhaps?

For a long time, sturdy safes were the most steel you could get for the $. Not sure if that's true anymore.

I've been looking for a new (to me) safe on Facebook market place for a few odds and ends I want to keep in my office, but after almost a year of searching, I may need to buy new.

Time to upgrade from my gun cabinet to a quality gun safe. Looking for the largest safe without sacrificing quality in the 3k - 4k range. What safe companies would you recommend and what dealers or online retailers have the best pricing? Do retailers ever run holiday sales that I should look out for. Thanks for the suggestions! Buy the biggest you can. You'll be surprised at all the things you want to stick in it. Also check around for a dealer that may have some used trade INS from people moving to a different size. It's hard to wear out a good quality safe. You might also contact manufacturers who could have reconditioned models

Another thought, I bought a safe about 20 or 25 years ago when tax codes aloud me to deduct the entire cost from taxes provided it was used to store certain items like tax files. If you have a home business you might deduct it or part of the cost anyway

Sturdy seems to make a sturdy body but the design is very rudimentary. Also there is much debate about the validity of the fire liner. Those in the know say the fire liner is absolutely worthless.

The Fort Knox Spartan I linked above is probably one of the better options in the current market. Thicker body and door like the Sturdy and with a gypsum board fire liner that provides at least some fire protection. No RSC is really fire rated although the higher end Fort Knox, Liberty and AMSEC seem to be the better options if fire protection is a primary concern.

I understand what you are thinking about a vehicle safe, but I don't recommend leaving a gun in the car unless someone is in the car. Too many weapons get in the wrong hands that way. I take my sidearm with me, always! No one has ask me to lock it in the c
ar, yet. If they do I'll tell them what I just said here. Then shop else where.

Concerning my Liberty safe. After the safe movers bailed on me and couldn’t move it into the basement I was seriously considering cutting the living room floor apart, adding supports below and building a frame around the safe and lowering it into the basement with a winch. It weighs 1000 lbs.
I think it would be very doable. On the other hand I would some day have to explain the repaired floor to prospective house buyers. LOL And the wife has been looking at me like I needed professional help of some kind. 🤪
🤣

Seems like a great value for the money, real steel all around not 10 or 12 gauge. If you want the best I would look at Brown safes… they don’t make RSC, I believe all of their safes are TL-15 or TL-30.
This is just about exactly what I’m looking for, the add’ons sure do add up though. Just forwarded it to the wife 🤞

I think the Fort Knox Spartan line represents a good value. A known brand, a heavy body and thick door. More of an old school feature set as opposed to some of the other stuff with composite doors, 10 or 12 gauge bodies, etc.

This Fort Knox is just about exactly what I’m looking for. Those add’ons sure do add up though. Just forwarded it to the wife 🤞

Right or wrong I bought this back in Nov. from a local lock and key company. They sold a smaller one in store I was to slow to decide on getting. They ordered this for me. Tennessee no sales tax on safes. Got a big one delivery and all in $5,000. Happy so far. View attachment 1515079 View attachment 1515080
That looks like a steal for 5k. Delivery charge for a safe that size alone has to be more than $500.

On May 11, 2024 I purchased a 46 gun safe for $4,893.45 for our vacation cabin. Due to the devastating fires and subsequent floods in
Ruidoso, New Mexico it was not delivered to us because the trucking company that Old Glory hired left
it in the Walmart parking lot because the town had been evacuated. The safe sat there, in the
rain, for approximately 3 weeks during the recurring floods until the next moving company that Old Glory Safes hired
could pick it up and store it for them until we could take delivery. The floods continued until the monsoon season ended near the first of October, but we went to Ruidoso on August 5th to have our safe delivered. At that time we were told by the movers that it couldn't be delivered during the week that we were there.
When it was finally delivered on November 5, 2024 at 4:31 p.m, the moving company had it in the back of a pickup truck and there was very little
protective packaging left. The safe had leaves in it and numerous scars, dents, gashes,
scratches and rust plus the door was ajar and hit a young employee of the movers
that Old Glory hired. The movers couldn't close the door. We could hardly believe our eyes so we
took pictures and called Old Glory Customer Service and talked to Liz at which time she assured us that they would make the safe as good as new. The movers then dropped it three times, first when the dolly completely gave away and ball
bearings went everywhere. Next they dropped it flat on the floor damaging our Saltillo tile.
Then, the safe fell and pinned another young man against the wall hurting his leg. At this
time, we talked to Liz again at Old Glory's customer service and she advised us that all
would be made good and that they would file an insurance claim against the moving company for the damaged
floor. We did receive compensation of $600 from the moving company only. However, it has been over a year now and we still
cannot close the door without an extra person to help push. The inside screws are rusted
from the rain so the pistol holder and wall just hang and flap and won't hold gun. One of the reasons that I bought from Old Glory was their unconditional warranty. At first, Liz at Old Glory told us that if we paid $1,800 for the shipping of the safe back to them they would refund us for the safe. She arranged a date for pick up but, at the last minute they cancelled and said that it was against their policy. Since then we have tried to
contact Old Glory numerous times over the past months and they will not call us back or even
respond.

And I would add b3fore buying make sure the safe you buy can be put where you want it. I just learned an expensive lesson buying a $6000 Liberty safe on the word of a safe mover that they can put it where I want. Well the safe was delivered and they were no where to be found. The other movers wouldn’t attempt it. Resold it for half price. Going to order a Zanotti modular now. For a difficult location they’ll work good.
Zanotti safes are made 15 miles from me. Lots of people around here have them.

I’d like to pistol whip some of those guys that keep putting how to breach a gun safe videos on utube. Those idiots really don’t need any more help .

I would be beyond pissed.

Welcome to the site from Georgia! I really don’t know how to respond to your post other than I’m glad my safe purchase and delivery was butter smooth. Only question was did I measure the door opening correctly so it would fit into the room it was supposed to? I did! Yeah.

I don’t think I would have accepted and taken possession of the safe after it sat at Walmart out in the weather!
