I’m looking for a 14-14.5 inch free float handguard for an AR build, and would prefer the more solid-with round-holes style (for aesthetics, somewhat retro-for fun). I really like JP’s - here- but it is a bit too long (or short in other sizes) for the 14.7 barrel.

100% agree. I love DD. I’m looking for something without the ‘keys’ (which I have versions of on all my other ARs) and more like a solid handguard with circular (venting-only) holes though. Rock River used to make something like this, but everyone has moved toward the (generally better) keymod style.

I have a 13 inch Troy with Squid Grip Panels on a 14.5 inch barrel.

That may be too much rail for the barrel length especially if you’re gonna run a can.
The URX 3.1 (KAC 30325) comes in at 13.5 but it will look proper with your barrel length.
What size gas tube are you wanting to go with?

unfortunately I live in one of the 3 states that didn’t allow cans.
Going with a mid-length gas tube.

both the Knights 3.1 and the Troy look great- probably the best options I’ve seen so far.

I do like ALG’s stuff, but their rails are just too similar to what I have on my other ARs, looking for something kind of different for this one.

The M4A1 Block II rail looks good on a 14.5” barrel.
