Don't set a rifle's muzzle directly on the floor of your jeep or in the dirt.

When setting a post, use an iron tamping bar to compress the dirt.

Barn flies are a pain. Fly predators, attractions, traps, air doors and industrial bug zappers with UV lures help.

You can catch a gopher by turning over a gallon milk jug or five gallon water bottle into the hole. When the gophers try to escape, they swim into the milk jug or water bottle.

You can also set rat traps baited with peanut butter and sunflower seeds and cover the gopher or squirrel hole with a bucket.

Others use industrial rodent killer kits using flammable gas (i.e., a mixture of propane and oxygen).

Years ago, we were allowed poisoned grain for ground squirrels.

And, of course, there are always long guns.
