Table manners go a long way.

If you're a guest, you can make a good impression by bringing a small gift, such as flowers, a bottle of wine, or if you want to be unique, a book they might enjoy, like Hard-Won Cowboy Wisdom.

Seat your wife at the table.

Keep your elbows at your sides. (My grandfather used to put silver dollars under my mom and aunt's arms. If they could finish their meal without dropping the coins, they got to keep them.)

Don't put your elbows on the table or talk with your mouth full.

Ask for food to be passed to you, even if you can reach it.

Take a tab of butter and put it on your bread plate or dinner plate and butter your bread from there. Break your bread into smaller pieces.
