Know at least one true story about a relative trying to lasso a mountain lion, wrestling a buck bare-handed or splitting a match with a revolver at fifty paces.

(My mom infamously tried to lasso a mountain lion at Pine Ridge Ranch while on horseback.

Lumberman Bob Hoffmann, a giant of a man, wrestled a buck bare-handed next to his apple tree after cold cocking it with a brick.

My grandmother, Pat Coe, was known for being a lady and splitting match sticks at remarkable distances.)

Labs are great for ducks but very bad for boar; in a fight, a wild boar will kill a Lab every time. For boar, try a Queensland heeler.

I’m willing to try lassoing a mountain lion but I’m a little concerned with what happens if I’m successful.

Old cowboy saying. 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you - only do it first'. As Jeff Cooper has said, this is definitely applicable to any self defense situation.
