Hello all, I recently retired and had to decide on a retirement present. I thought of building a carbon bicycle, or a custom pistol. It seemed the best way to go was the coolest choice, so the custom pistol won! After a lot of research I bought a 1911 Builders 80% Commander kit, a Matrix Precision jig and decking/drilling jig, and set to work. I'm sharing some photos of the completed pistol. It was a fantastic learning experience. A gunsmith acquaintance did some final tweaking that I never would have thought about, and the results are very satisfying. 110 rounds so far with zero malfunctions. This was my first pistol build, and I'm pretty new to guns. Feedback is really appreciated. I'm already considering another build and leaning towards a 6" long slide. Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.
