I have been looking for a used 357 lever action carbine for some time now. I finally landed a Henry Big Boy on Gunbroker Sat. & was wondering if anyone here has one or has fired one that belongs to a friend. Any opinions or experience with one would be appreciated.

Well my Big Boy has arrived & its in perfect condition. The seller said that he had only fired 100 rds through it & I am inclined to believe him. There is not a scratch on it. I shot 50 rds through it yesterday & at 50 yds it was right on POA. This was the first gun that I have purchased on line & I am very pleased with it. As with every gun that I have purchased it has shot right to the top of my favorite list. Time will tell if it stays there.

Were you shooting .357 or 38 Spec?

I shot both but I prefer to shoot 357. The 38s just didn't do it for me, it felt like my BL22. Now the 357 was great, it has just enough umph to make it interesting. Everyone says use 38s on the range but that's the only place that I shoot so I may as well shoot what the hell I like

I know this is an old thread, but I had a Q for Faawrenchbndr...I'm considering my next rifle to be a Big Boy in .357. You mentioned having had one. How come you got rid of it? Any particular concerns/negatives about the gun (or the mfr, Henry, itself) to be aware of? I'd really prefer a 1866 Yellowboy replica, but price and availabililty are not as good as the Henry.

Outstanding rifle,.....the smoothest lever action I've ever shot!
Very good shooter, great accuracy. I sold it because I was
consolidating calibers and got away from .357 Mag
