I've been a dedicated 1911 shooter for a long time..started shooting them when I was a kid, now I'm in my late 60's and just retired formally Jan 1, 2018 from a business I owned. My primary carry gun is a Wilson Combat, 5", Protector model in 9mm. Its about 12 yrs old now...and I shoot it a lot / its been a fantastic gun. With some arthritis issues in my hands and wrist, I retired its "sister gun" a Wilson CQB in 5" in .45 acp as my carry gun - although I'm still going to keep it. I've had 1911's from Springfield, Kimber, Les Baer and Ed Brown...I've given them all away to adult kids now...but I'm keeping the pair of Wilsons long term. ( I'm also into S&W revolvers in a big way ...( about 25 of them ...older numbered models mostly - 19's, 27's, 29's, etc ) ../ and Browning Over Under shotguns in all 4 gagues...)...but 1911's are week in and out the guns I reach for.
