High Mileage rebuild.......Reid

This is a personal gun of mine. It was a main practice gun of mine back when I used to be a good shooter and I was preparing for the 2017 World Shoot. It was also my main dryfire gun for several years. It was beat up and abused, and it served its purpose quite well. I have documented 112,000 rounds on the gun. The slide did crack at the ejection port, and so it was time to either build an entirely new gun and retire it, or rebuild it. I decided to just put a new top end on the gun, weld up the frame rails and fit a new top end. We will see how this frame gets along, hopefully another 100k.

And yes, there are plenty of flaws in this one, maybe my worst paint job ever. But thats okay, its going in a holster and gonna get beat up some more, so I'm not too worried about it.

A bit of a swirl patter on the flats kind of breaks up the monotony.

First time putting the logo on the outside of the slide. On a non Colt build, I think it works well.

Here you can see the repair for the front strap on my magwell. It was extremely beat up and deformed. So hopefully this fixes it.

My files were too big, hahah.

Last two.

This has become my favorite for my personal guns that I use and compete with. Very functional, and looks decent.

There are before pictures in the honest wear thread. And I have a video of it on IG that shows what it looked like a lot better in the before. Here’s the magwell.

ok, I finally found my pictures. These are from 2019, so it had another 20,000 rounds on it after these were taken, and some more wear and tear, but this gives a good idea.

The slide work, while it’s very modern and nontraditional, it works really well with the rail. I really like this one, well done. Also, one hell of an accomplishment on the round count.

Well, there's no doubt you got your money's worth! That mag well is a sight to behold.

As long as you're going "modern", I think the slide treatment is exceptional. Signature is "spot on"! (y)(y)
I'm a fan!

112,000 rounds!!! That’s insane. I look forward to when I’ve shot that many rounds total, let alone through a single pistol.

Amazing.

Wondering if you have a record of failures (if any) that occured during the 112k rounds fired?

Cool battleworn look!

Oh wait, that was earned

looks like your magwell has done its job.

Guess you can not only build a beautiful pistol, sounds like you are quite the shooter too.

I’ll be lucky to hit 100k rounds in my lifetime.
