20171008_125857.jpg 20171008_125904.jpg 20171008_125914.jpg While at the range and half way into my fith mag my BP exploded, it knocked off my left hand off and caused a bit of pain.
I don't recall firing and nothing coming out of the barrel, ie: squib, and firing again.
My buddy was watching and didn't see anything unusual.
The slide won't move and doesn't appear to be any rounds in the barrel. There does seem to be something under the cracked barrel hood.
Ammo was Winchester 38 super +p.
I'm guessing there is no salvage to it as the slide is frozen in place and in bad condition.
Could this be a squib or is there another explanation?
Sorry if if I'm not explaining myself correctly, I've never experienced anything like this and don't know anyone who has

Only time I have seen this happen was always a squib.. but that’s heartbreaking that is for sure. Sorry to here and see this but glad that you weren’t injured..

Damn Stogies! Glad you’re all good brother, sorry about the BP! Hopefully Rob will take care of you and get it back up and running.

Yep, I was standing behind him watching him shoot and he stopped and started examining the gun. I had no idea anything like this happened, every round sounded the same. Definitely not Stogies' fault I can attest. Pretty damn depressing.

Squib is my guess, also. I’ve experienced a few case ruptures, and they were definitely different than your result. That sucks.

If in fact it was a squib, would both rounds exit the barrel?

I have seen double charges before usually just ruptured casing.. like this below from a buddies gun of mine. It was a Les Baer had a double charge. It basically just ruined the magazine no damage to the gun itself.. I would say it had to be a squib load IMO.. Did you save the brass from that round? Wondering what it looked like. It didn't eject, the slide won't budge

Since it was their defective ammo that caused the problem I would say yes. And since the case is jammed in there it's not like they can say it wasn't their ammo that caused it. May end up needing to sue them but for 4 grand I'd certainly do it.

Firm but calm should get the situation resolved. I'm sure this isn't the first gun they've blown up, though it may be one of the more expensive ones.

    Firm but measured I am.
I'm guessing I'm gonna have to send the gun to them?
