I'll try to get this to the range ASAP but just had some initial thoughts. This is the first micro "2011" attempt I suppose aside from the CSX which I was pretty excited for.

I think in a lot of ways they knocked it out of the park in how the gun is presented. Nice range bag, optics ready with direct mill RMSC, very nice aluminum frame with picatinny rail and fit and finish are excellent. Basically no wiggle in slide to frame fit. I think it might be a little bit bigger than a P365 but feels about the same in hand - but has much better ergonomics.

I was apprehensive about the trigger since it has a firing pin block and the shape/angle are not traditional. In the hand I don't have any real complaints; feels crisp with minimal creep. Not quite as good as an SFX9 but better than anything else on the market for it's role as a micro 9.

One complaint so far is the safety, which they cannot seem to get right on these smaller guns. It isn't difficult to disengage but has some wiggle in it and I just wish it felt more affirmative. It's definitely reminiscent of the P238 and old Kimber Micro 9, and not in a good way. It also really needs to be a bit wider. Really no ledge to rest thumb and is a bit difficult to engage. I understand the intent to make the gun concealable as possible but I think this was one area that needed more attention or compromise in this regard.

But all in all, so far anyway, the quality feels like it commands the price, which is about double most micro 9s. I'll post updates when I get it to the range.

It really does look nice aesthetically. I like those "fish scale" serrations. About the trigger, is it hinged? I'll be interested in hearing how it does at the range. 👍
I don't think it would be considered hinged as in the old SW hinge, but it does have an unusual angle to it

Looks sharp, take some pictures of it field stripped
I'll get some up in a bit

I’ve owned several Kimber guns over the years. The 1911 platforms were trouble free for me. I’ll let Kimber work the bugs out of this series of guns before I look at another one.

The Kimber Solo was the gun I wanted to love and I could never get it to run. I took a bath on that gun. I paid $800 for it back 2010/2011 time frame, I think I traded it for less than $400.

I tried to get it to run, sent it back to Kimber several times. Never ran right, it wasn’t lack of trying, I really wanted to love that gun. That kinda soured me on Kimber’s micro series.

It seems like everything from the Troy plant hasn't had the same QC issues

epic, in for the review. i was looking at a single stack something for front pocket, kydex trigger guard cary but then saw this and figured I'd wait.. was supposed to hit shelves late November, then early December, per several larger gun stores I check it from.

Until this week, Scheels had the non threaded model available for prebuy but they don't anymore--> they don't even have the gun listed on their site at all if you search for it.. but they did since mid November..

KyGunCo, similar. They were allowing customers to prebuy 1 model but now but models are back to, "give us your email, we'll let you know".

I don't know if this is because some production date was pushed back.

the trigger and safety have been the hard no for me so far but I may relent, once they hit the shelves and get more good reviews.

I take those neg reviews with a grain of salt as everyone knows anything you read online is from a paid shill.

I am an unpaid shill.

Pinky mag came, it's much more similar to a P365 in feel now and is like 80% the size and mass of the SFX9 pictured. Holster I snagged is a southern trapper IWB which is fitted for it and a Surefire XSC.

Been hard getting to the range since my son was born but when I do I think I'll maybe do a head-to-head with the Wilson for a unique look outside of the standard reviews on it.

these keep popping up on GB.. right now they're at $1095, which seems like high retail. KYGunco has them listed for $925 but is not offering pre-order as of about 2 weeks ago, when they were allowing it before.

so guessing $ will settle below that mid $800ish, used by next year, if fn Kimber can get their ish together and roll with some inventory.

all these gun cos stepping on their junk at roll out//

this gun hit premarket in November, perfect for a BlackFriday Christmas bump and then went silent, didn't drop in any real numbers.

talk about a missed opportunity.. somebody at kimber should not be.. just for that opportunity lost.

Kimber has gotten a bad rap for a long time now(rightfully so.) a Kimber compact 1911 was the first gun I ever bought for myself when I turned 21 and I loved it. Have avoided them for a long time because of all the issues. Looks like they are trying to make a comeback with these last handful of offerings they’ve released. This one and their carbon compact are two I’d like to get my hands on.

is there a chance that like the KDS9 rail, they're going to have a fast V2 come out?

this unit hits about 90% of my interests in a micro carry.. 10rd, w bigger back ups.. essentially everything I need for a pocket kydex trigger guard carry.

was hoping for:
  • 1911 Micro9 trigger over the hinge.. as an option.
  • RMR would be a 'nice to have'
  • more aggressive controls, w more real estate on safety and gas pedal :D.
