That Mountain Gun never looked that good while I owned it!!!!!!! Glad to see she got a good home.

On second thought, it's at least 13 but I could have more. I think.

My comments in this thread bring to mind the reporter who was commenting on a proposed "report lost gun" law. She said, "How can anyone have a gun and not know where it is?" Damn, I'm not even sure what I own.

I really need to stop watching this post. Every time I come to it, I end up at Gun Broker, Guns International, Guns America, etc. There's just something about a good revolver........

Brian Pearce, who is a rancher, and writes for Handloader magazine, reports that a heavy 44 or 45 slug at 1100 FPS will penetrate a steers skull, or pass through a elk or black bear. We Americans are power mad a bit but that much is really not necessary. Your hand will thank you too. I load my 44’s in the 1100-1200 range and am quite satisfied. Easier to shoot too.

A friend shot a buffalo side to side through the ribs with a 240gr , 44 bullet at 1000fps. Never did find the bullet. Distance was about 30-35 yds. FWIW

    1. That Underwood +P stuff is really stout! And for me, no fun to shoot.

    2. A 240-250 grain bullet at 900-1000 FPS will stop most anything in the lower 48 states and is fun to shoot.

Yeah, quite the handful. I did load up some Hornady 250gr XTPs over 9.1 gr of Unique, which should give me around 930 or so fps, which I will use for more defensive type loads.
