I would spend money in custom, semi-custom 1911 but not 2011. What is your take?

Regardless of the caliber, 1911s are iconic and worth the money!

Well, and I'm just talking about my requirements here, as much as any of those would be nice to have and shoot it is just not a requirement for me at this point. I am interested in something I can depend on in the caliber of my preference. I recently purchased a DW TCP in 45 acp and I just got back from the range probably 30 minutes ago from shooting it for the first time. It is a great shooter and based on taking it out of the case, putting rounds in the magazine and shooting the qualification course of my former agency the TCP gets an A+. The TCP came out of the case and performed great for the first time being shot outside the factory! I need/want a gun that when the SHTF I know it will do its part. I shot the course twice and to say I was very please with the TCP is an understatement! I would still love to have an ACW Quantico but it is a nice to have not a need to have!
I'm in a similar situation. I got rid of many high-end 2011s. I plan to have only three semi-custom single-stack 1911s...I have five handguns in total including the customs.

I turned 71 this year and some things have definitely changed. I ordered my last "build to order" gun. I won't wait 2 years to get a gun, and I don't buy green bananas. I'll buy guns on the forum and at my LGS ut I don't want to have guns delivered when I'm 80!

I sometimes lust for a gun and in the past if I thought about it constantly for a week, I would buy the thing I lusted over I decided it was easier to get a PT job for 2 days a week than worry if I could afford it or not. I'm happier now not having to worry if I could afford it or not.
I've got 4 1911's plus a Para LDA(Tac4). I'm 80 and now wanting a S&W Model 69 .44Mag. I like 1911's but am not head over heels in love with them. Have always liked revolvers. I'm going thru a waiting period to see if the lust for the S&W lasts.

Part of the allure for me in spending “big money” on a 1911 or 2011 is the opportunity to have at least a semi personal relationship with the builder, even if its just them knowing my name. When I got my CCP, I felt like I got more than just a well made gun, I got a gun made for me. I want that same feeling from a custom 1911, and I struggle with the idea of buying a gun made by the elite builders second hand. However, it seems like I may be getting in a little late for the opportunity to work directly with some of the smiths at the pinnacle of the industry.
I’d definitely spend money on a Infinity 2011 after shooting one. They are amazing.

I will say I have never liked any double stack grip. The 1911 is where I spend money. I recently purchased a CZ-TSO from a fellow Addict. I'm impressed, I get the attraction.
