I'd like to put a set of bone grips on my upcoming Auto Ordnance 1911. Can anyone recommend a manufacturer that is not super expensive? I'm looking for less than $150.

Thanks WC, I'll take a look but, I try to shy away from Ebay after some issues in the past. Any you can think of that have their own website?

Boone Trading Co, but their stuff is usually a little pricier and they use some really odd ball materials. Other than them I don't know any off hand. I've bought some off ebay and been happy with them, but if you're looking for a name grip maker I think a lot of what you see will be "faux" ivory and bone.

Really appreciate the input and I'm not discounting Ebay. I'll give it a good look and check the reviews first. Hoping to get a set that will fit right on with no modifications on my part.

You might just need to google around and see what you come up with.

Nutmeg has a set of "aged" giraffe bone on sale for $99, they're flat bottomed but they'll bevel them and cut a MSH pin relief if you want them to. http://www.nutmegsports.com/store/product322.html

I'll second this. Search for his store on Etsy. Lower commissions on Etsy, better support of the craftsman.

Yah man...he knocks it out of the park. I have a set of his elk on my S&W model 13 (the pic in my avatar)

My advice? Pick a set you like and buy em! If you waffle they won’t be there next time you go back.

    Dooooooooooo it ;)
