Getting old ain’t for sissies, least that’s what I’ve always heard😂 but if ya can’t come up with it it’s no issue, I was just curious. A solid 1911smith from Ga is enough for me to buy it already.

 

For $650 I would not have left the shop without that one, personally.

 

I know I know, my guy said if I got home and decided I wanted it to call back and he’d hold it, so I wasn’t to worried lol, I already called him back😂

 

I would have bought it and asked for forgiveness later. Nice looking pistol.

The website you posted is Dave Wells out of PA. I snagged a cert for one of his suppressors from a prize table. He works on 1911’s as well.

 

I've often wondered what became of Jimmie Wells.
When I did machining for him I did not think he was young man.
I'd happily send him work with an invoice for hundreds and hundreds of dollars,
never had a thought of not getting paid.
He had a source of oversized gunsmith barrels that I suspected were Karts.
'We' once bulit up a 380 Colt, just like a race gun. Perfecty fitted expansion chamber comp and all.
All the bells and whistles of that time.
A true southern gentleman.

Hell yea. Take it home, clean it up, make sure its got fresh springs and some extractor tension and shoot her. That looks so classy.

 

I couldn’t even wait, soon as I got home I put 2 flawless mags through it, a mag of ball and hsts. I really love this old thang lol.

 

That is a great find. Sounds like the store knows you, I would ask them to call anytime they get a 1911 trade in that is “custom”.
I know it’s business but I hate to think what $ value the previous owner received for that one.

 

Yeah I stop in once a week just to browse lol, and it was a gun on consignment, I’m not real sure how that system works.

 

I see this is a older post but I have to speak up… IF you find a gun you feel is priced right and especially if it has unique characteristics…. Don’t waste your time on forums asking for should I buy it opinions…. Just BUY IT! You already posted several reasons why you should’ve bought it…. I learned this lesson years ago missing out on something me real gems… when in doubt… BUY THE GUN!
