It's supposed to rain all day so I decided to detail strip my DW PM9. This is my first 1911 and the second time I've given it a detail strip. The gun has been running great but I want to get more familiar with the parts and how they work. Once I got it completely apart, I cleaned and applied a light film of oil to every piece. I didn't notice anything being particularly dirty. Once I had it back together, I dry fired it a number of times. I swear it seems like the slide racked smoother and the trigger felt even better than normal. Or was it just my imagination?

Probably your imagination. But that’s okay too. When I was younger, my car always ran better when I changed the oil and filter, rotated the tires, and changed the air filter.

I always felt when ever I have done preventative maintenance on any any equipment, machinery or automobile that I have owned or worked with at my job it just felt like it was better do to just upkeep on the machinery.

It may have been relief that I got it back together and it still worked.
