My state is contemplating a ban on evil black guns.

I currently own a M&P 15 Sport and a CZ Scorpion. The range that I have access to maxes out at 25 yards, so I don't find myself shooting the AR that often.

While I enjoy the 1911 addiction, I've so far avoided the AR addiction. If the end is near, is there something that I need to buy or will always wish that I had....

Realistically, only use is as a range toy and SHTF.

Thanks

I’d buy a few receiver sets, Wilson is having or was having a pretty good sale on them. Pick up a few and build them when & how you like.

What state are you in? I would at least pick up some extra magazines at least depending on how many you have already, but then again is there a such thing as to many. Some spare parts never hurt to have either BCG, firing pins, springs and detent

Sharing some stories from my Illinois friends. They just discovered that folks like Midwest industries won’t ship handguards to their state anymore. Which makes no sense, I suppose they are worried about people building them.

so I guess that means for you…buy the tools necessary to build them. Buy the parts to build them. I don’t recommend buying multiple lowers in one day. Keep them and build later or right away, your decision. But have whatever you want on hand.

last story…The Illinois media was very quiet about that last bill and was pushed through very quickly. So unless you are monitoring the situation, you might be caught off guard at how quickly it gets pushed thru.

I really like buying from Wilson combat especially during their sales. I think they have a sale going on now. 15% off with build15 code?

however in a pinch…white label armory is priced right with their build kits.

I bought rifles for each of my babies when they were born in anticipation of this eventually happening.

Ride that liar McClusky hard. I’ve written and called her office to voice my displeasure. Having spoken to my sheriff, I know that what Denver/Boulder/Summit counties push, mine will not enforce. Perhaps a conversation with your sheriff will reveal the same for you.

As far as magazines and other accessories, if you didn’t load up before 2013, Laramie isn’t too far away.

Depending on where you live, this can really be either a burden or a non-issue. Despite what some “visitors” to the place believe, CO really is a tale of two worlds. The city will do what the city will do while the rest of us carry on with our lives.

One is just a gateway drug for the other.

I'm also in CO. I currently have one AR15 (POF P415 Edge, love it, especially suppressed). The rumor of this new bill pushed me to pick up an AR10 (PWS MK218 in 308) before that dang thing gets signed into law. Maybe I'm paranoid, but this is one time where I'd rather not "wait and see".

I signed a couple of online petitions to lawmakers, got decent responses from most. But the reply from my own state rep (a Dem, who I believe will be a primary sponsor of this bill) seemed to say something like "There's no such bill before the legislature, why are you complaining about something that doesn't exist, leave us alone you ignorant deplorable."

Or maybe I just read too deeply between the lines...

I miss CO a lot, but not that mess. I love 1911s but they don’t really serve a real purpose for me. ARs on the other hand, are very practical in a number of roles. Get at least one more. BCM will have more options and features than the S&W. Worst case, buy a lower or two since that’s the regulated part (for now).

I’m in WA State. Really depends on what you want in your collection and if lucky enough to have a grandfather clause that you can hand down within a NFA Trust.

If you are considering legacy ownership scenarios I recommend the following if it’s in the budget.
  1. AR 15: 5.56 would do 16” barrel down to 11” barrel that will now require it to become an SBR. So 16”+ barrel means you’ll likely take it home before 2025 or 2026 with the upcoming new backlog due to the new rule
  2. AR10: for the larger calibers
  3. Banshee or Sig MPX like with a 4.5” barrel. If you get the sig you can purchase the MPX or like at 16” barrel that can be converted to a shorter barrel after form 1 is completed if you choose
In general it’s easier these days to purchase a full firearm depending on state you’re in. Due to new laws on receivers, engraving, etc. Make sure the receivers are stamped with “Multi” for caliber on any you purchase to give the most amount of flexibility without new ATF forms.

PM me if you have more detailed questions. Main thing is to consider what “you” want while you’re alive and what you want to “pass down” to keep the legacy of gun ownership alive for next generations.

Went through an similar exercise in ‘08 during Obama. That was the first real ammo shortage we saw. Shelves were dry literally for years.

Mags and stripped lowers. Preferably face to face stripped lowers not on your own 4473, but I imagine that’s easier said than done.

Outside of that and unrelated to ARs, imports. If I was in the market, I’d snag a Century AP5 (Turkish MP5 clone) for $1100. I recently sold both of my Scorpions because I never shoot them with MP5s on hand.

Buy a pistol grip of some sort, suppressor or other toy….even if you don’t need it. Help your local small businesses. Oh and get out and support the cause. Cheers!
