It's a Remington Rand M1911 .45ACP.
It looks real and is very collectible.

Does the original govt box add much value?
It appears per 1911info box is original from 1945
None of them came with a test target.

Reproduction box and fake test target.
Military 1911s were shipped in large lots and containers.
None of them came with a test target.
Hi thank you,
How can you tell the repro boxes from the originals?
Nice gun , fake box. the ink printing is too good, back in WWII printing wasn't so clear, I have an original box, printing is "fuzzier". A real box in good shape is worth about $600. The 1911A1 seems in good shape so I would say right around $2500 alone.
Nice gun. Not as desirable as a Colt but still collectible.

Would you be willing to post a picture of your box for comparison?

I mean this video I just watched shows them going through the entire process of making them for the DoD and they go into boxes, after being wrapped. I would agree there are no test targets, but boxes…maybe?

The pistol and box appear to be authentic and original. The target is not. Magazines were possibly added, but no way to know with those images. More detailed photos would be required to say more.

The print on original boxes was printed on the paper and has sharp borders. On the fake boxes, the print is stamped on the box and bleeds out along the borders of the letters. The fake markings look fuzzy. Original markings are sharp.

Can you post a link to the video? I’d like to see its context of what year it was filmed and whose guns those are.

Now you have post 17 from Scott Gahimer who imo knows more than the three of them above.

Are you saying it’s the original Remington Rand box from 1945 or the original DCM surplus box?

It appears to be an original Remington Rand box from late WWII. There were several NIB 1945 Rem Rand pistols in the 2.4M serial range sold through the DCM that included their original factory boxes. This looks like one of those pistols.
