I’d like to do some light modifications to a blue series 80 govt, going towards the full size commander look like this:

I know A smith could notch my current GI grip safety, but it would be easier to buy one and have it installed along with the hammer.

Is this the grip safety I want that works with rowel hammers?

Having my GI grip safety swapped with a rat tail wouldn’t require refinishing etc like having a beavertail fitted, would it?

I’m planning on grabbing the Wilson retro hammer, but I also have the option of an old kings gun works round hammer or this

Any feedback on which one to buy?

Thanks. Once I gather all the parts I’ll be sending it to a smith.

I sure like the looks of the 1911 in your post, Benny! Very traditional!
