but this is crazy. I guess I'm in one of my moods and can't help but to rabble.

I remember reading somewhere about Nighthawks going up in price shortly after Wilson, but I never paid anymore attention. I looked at NH's site and they are charging $600 for Diamond Black/Ionbond...last I looked it was still around $350 through other vendors. I see the markup on Hard Chrome is just as bad at $425 when they were charging $325, I think. They charged me $300 for DB/IB when I ordered a pistol from them last year, I don't see how in the hell it doubles in price in less than a year. http://www.nighthawkcustom.com/CustomUpgrades.aspx

I have to laugh at charging $80 for a 10-8 rear sight too - http://www.nighthawkcustom.com/detail.aspx?ID=69

I guess NH is another builder to put on my do not buy from list, which is growing large these days.

End rant.

You know,I never really have considered NH for a 1911 "investment" (hell, let's be honest,a shooter) for a LONG time.

I always felt they priced themselves too high, but with this, they are beyond my wants, and needs in a semi custom 1911.

Well, these guys have a 6 month backlog right now, so I guess they figure they can charge more, people keep on buying them, so why not?

Nighthawk priced themselves out of competativeness in my book the last round of price hikes. Now even more?

That is straight up ridiculous... I love my Nighthawk pistols, and am glad I got them before any of the price hikes - but with pricing like this, i won't buy another.

They rank as high on will DNB list as Wilson now. Wilson is still #1 on that list, even tho NH is a very very close second.

That's crazy. Ionbond cost me $350, and that was done at the facility in North Carolina. No way would I spend the money on a NHC. There are just too many other, IMO better, options available.

Supply and demand will work, when the supply becomes so over priced that those of us who enjoy and collect 1911's stop buying them the price will come down. NH was already out of the running for consideration for me even though they make a good product. To invest that much I'll buy a Wilson Combat, but that's just MHO.
