This might be the most controversial piece I've posted yet, I mean Kimber, Elite, and Custom in the title, but hey here we are! For consideration is a Kimber Aegis Elite Custom chambered in 45 Auto, original SKU is 300351. This is a 5 inch gun chambered in 45 with a fastback or bobtail. For what it is I think it's a fairly well optioned production gun for the price point. This is a Series 70 design with no Swartz safety firing pin safety.

I picked this up used from someone who had it on consignment. It was a carry gun but it had a loose plunger tube that the store wasn't interested in fixing along with being dirty. In addition to the plunger tube I went through the whole gun and there were some additional things I've upgraded that I'll try to highlight.

-New Wilson BP plunger tube,
-Wilson stainless grip bushings, and flat head grip screws
-EGW Carry Bevel Bushing and Long Nose Plug
-Wilson G.I Guide Rod
-EGW fitted firing pin stop
-All new Springs including EGW Mainspring
-Kimber Wedge Night sights (factory take offs)

In addition to fitting the parts I cleaned up the ignition parts, checked extractor claw, cleaned, and oiled the gun. It's wearing the factory VZ grips. Gun is still fitted very nicely, tight and smooth. I still pretty much refuse to sell something with old springs, nasty grip bushings, or that's filthy. For what this is with the checkering I think it's a nice piece.

Gun has some carry/holster wear and one ding on the mainspring housing, but mechanically is very nice. Included is the gun with factory case, manual, and one Kimber Tac-Mag. Also I'll include the majority of the take off parts.

Gun will ship from my FFL to yours insured upon arrival of payment. Accepted payment methods are USPS money orders or personal check from established Addicts. Any additional information or questions don't hesitate to ask. First I'll take it trumps PM's.

It's better than cutting up an existing gun to decide you don't like it. With the front strap and non series 2 it's actually a decent offering.

For the context of what it is its a nice production gun with some improvements such as the bushing. There's some very basic improvements you can make to a production gun such as preventing extractor clocking/fore or aft movement or the claw being a tad long. Checkeing free movement of the trigger bow, adjusting sear spring, etc. There was a period of Kimber production that has left plenty sour, but all mine have run.

Thanks sir, I was hesitant to call this a truck gun and thought about you! Glad to hear it and more so great to know you're enjoying it.
IMHO, this is the best Kimber model ever made!!! I bought my daughter the Aegis Ultra 9mm then the next year an Aegis pro 45.
You couldn't ask for better running 1911's! ZERO malfunctions or problems!

I had the OI variant that came with the Vortex RDS and suppressor sights. That thing was built perfectly, functioned flawlessly and was accurate as hell. I wish I hadn't sold it. These are great guns! GLWS!

I was pretty impressed with the overall quality of the gun and there's been alot of positive feedback on it in the listing thus far. It's fitted up nicely and it's interesting to me that Kimber went to an optic ready gun in 2018, a little ahead of the curve. I think Aegis, TLE, and KHX are there best offerings. The big 3 (Colt, Springfield, Kimber) all have had a unfavorable time in production. I've had plenty of Kimbers and they are the most consistent fit in slide/frame/barrel. I have found Kimbers ignition parts to have more consistency and better trigger pulls on average out of the box compared to Springfields.

Kimber really did a great job with these Aegis Elite models, and with the OP upgrades added, $845 is a fair price.

Below, I have the 4" Aegis Elite .45. This one is also a 70 series and it is very well-fitted. I have never experienced an FTF or FTE, and that is using Kim-Pro Mags. I have put around 200 Got Dot 230gr and over 500 rounds being a mixture of different brands of factory 230gr FMJ, and my 230gr LRN Coated reloads. Yes, I bet my life on it, this one gets a lot of CC time.

What grips are those. I’ve thought about swapping mine out on my aegis pro

Those are the Bobtail Guuun Grips. I normally put Cool Hand Ultra Slim Grips with Challis Slim Bushings on my 1911s, but they were out of the Bobtail grips at the time so I went with Guuun. You can usually find a great deal on Amazon for the Cool Hand Grips, under $25, and the Guuuns for under $30. When you just hold the grips in your hand, they feel pretty aggressive in texture, but once on the gun and firing they felt comfortable.
