Not quite the kind of gun we see reviewed on here but I’m pretty excited about this one. I was excited about the Kimber Evo SP since it was announced. And I have to say that I am very impressed.
I put the 200th round thru the gun today with no malfunctions. Straight out of the box and right out of the bag - no cleaning, no extra lube - just went straight to shooting.
The aluminum frame on this gun makes it a very flat and soft shooter. It allows for better recoil control out of such a small gun. The grips (side panels) and backstrap are interchangeable to fit different hand sizes.
The standard sights on this model are a set of 3-Dot Tritium. Made with steel and with a very good ledge on the U-Notch rear sight. I was plinking steel at 50 yards today with ease.
At about 150 rounds, I noticed the backstrap was coming loose. The set screw had backed out under recoil, I had to retighten and loctite the screw. Just something to be aware of.
The trigger is very smooth. Just a little heavier than a Glock 43 trigger but a whole lot cleaner. The reset is a little long but the trigger is easy to shoot well with.
Some issues with slide lock on the last round, I think because I was running cheap 115gr Federal Aluminum - probably not hot enough. I’m gonna start running some Critical Duty and HST Micro thru it this weekend. But so far so good, and I can see the Kimber Evo SP sticking around in my stable as a deep concealment gun.
