I’m sure everyone on this BBS has more than one 1911. What is your least reliable 1911? Have you gotten rid of that 1911 that is not reliable? For me, I have 5 1911 pistols. A Colt government, DW PM7, Les Baer P2 and NH Talon have been absolutely problem free. My Springfield loaded 9mm target, Cal edition, not so much. 300 rounds and is seems to be getting better but it is not flawless. Cases have been getting crushed on ejection. Slide sometimes gets hung-up on the disconnector. Mags really suck. With a round in the chamber, ejecting the mag will cause a round popping out of the mag. Ordered new cobra mags. Trigger is not straight and canted to the right. I would much preferred a 9mm Dan Wesson Or Les Baer if it was available in CA.

I still own my least reliable 1911. And if I posted the brand name I would be flamed so badly my reply would pale in comparison.

Norinco. A toad, right out of the box. Bought one new in '92, and it started to jam (FTF's) on hardball, with the second mag. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

Springfield Professional. 3 trips back to their shop, and even after the 3rd time it still couldn't make a range session without a feedramp related jam. Sent out on my dime to a well-known smith and got it back working but ending up selling it for a loss.

It depends on whether you are talking about 45 or 9. I sold a Colt and Dan Wesson in 9mm due to misbehavior. My Fusion 9mm runs great after swapping extractors.

    I haven't had issues with .45s

I don't think I've ever owned a toad right out of the box. ;)

I have. I traded a couple of Hot Wheels cars to Jimmie Taylor for a live toad and a turtle, in a box, back in the day

Les Baer Stinger. That darned thing would not run no matter what. Ended up selling it for a loss and picked up a Dan wesson Specialist Commander that runs like an illegal on US soil!!

I’ve owned a lot of guns in the past half century or so, with remarkably few problems. The only truly bad one was an
AMT Skipper(of course). I bought it decades ago and it stayed with me for a couple of years. I do not miss it.

I currently have 13 1911s but really don’t have any with problems or any reliability issues.

Only issue Ive had at all was my 22TCM at the Addicts shoot had a coupe fte’s and that was the first and last time that’s happened.

I’ve only had two 1911s I did not like and that was just the feel not a function issue, both were Baer PM2s just something I did not like after I picked up the pair (one 9mm & one 45acp) before I ever shot one. Once I shot them I just didn’t like the feel and traded both off.

Had a Colt Government Series 70....around a 1973 or 74. Slammer/Jammer POS. Finally gave up on it after it ejected a shell onto my forehead that struck hard enough to lacerate me....it was one of the models with those stupid collet barrel bushings that did not "accurize" anything. All of my newer 45's, 10mm, 38 Super are just fine.

    Para Ordnance p12-45 lda.

It was so crappy. One shot was all she would do. Mags, mag springs. Everything was changed. Then I traded it for some cash and a Winchester 700 rifle.

I don't think there is a least reliable. That award can be given to a lot of 1911 manufacturers, especially in the sub 1000 price range.

That said, if there is an award to be given for this, I suspect the PewPewPtwang pistol smithing services can cook up a winner. How about a 1911 that discharges out of battery? I can probably build you a pistol that does that. A pistol guaranteed to fail to fire every time? I can do that. A pistol that fails to feed? I can do that too!

Colt has been the least reliable for me. Unless, you consider a Para P18 a 1911.
