Is there a method to attaching leather and kydex together for a holster? I played with leather wallets, sheaths, and belts as a Cub Scout a looong time ago

Depends. Are you looking to line the kydex or attach loops or other external accessories?
For the external attachments you can use Chicago Screws or T-nuts as previously illustrated.
To line the Kydex I would use contact cement. Preferably Barge brand. Barge is superior to other brands when it comes to leather adhesive.

Might give a call to Garrett Holsters they've been doing it for a while.
May or may not give you some info, if they don't think it's propitiatory?!?!?!?
