Searched some but couldn't find an exact answer: should I use the FCD with lead bullets (45acp)?

I've been told use it because it will prevent case bulges that could compromise feeding, and don't use it because it could swage down the lead.

What say you all?

I've used it with lead in the past. I don't recall any issues. I now load coated lead bullets and have no issues.

If you over crimp with the FCD it could smush the lead bullet and you may have some bullet push in issues. I find that if my die are adjusted correctly I usually don't need the FCD, but every once in a while I have some FTF issues, so I run them through the die and it solves the problem.

So do you seat and taper crimp then run through the fcd or just seat and let the fcd do the rest?
