Just finishing a 9mm 5" Gov't gun with a Caspian/Foster frame.
Gun just makes weight by.3 ozs for USPSA Single Stack division.
Grips currently on gun are an old pair of SA Range Officer grips. I put Them on for handling and doing some testing of function etc.

Want thick grips for personal preference but they have to be same or lighter than the Wood SA grips.

Would prefer as much grip as possible but IIRC carbon fiber grips like VZ weigh more than wood.

Any help would be appreciated

Go to guncrafter website and order aluminum frags. This is the most grip possible in light weight full thickness.

I got on a weighing kick lately when I thought some of my pistols were gaining weight. They were: fat/heavy grips and weighty holsters.......I like G10 stuff, it's not light. I like Alumagrips - really really like them in the summer next to my body. They don't come lightly though. Next to nothing I've got in house weighs in less than a good pair of thin, wood grips. When it comes to wood, I'll take smooth Spegel over anything else first.
