Curious if anyone has some long term experience with Baer's lightweight guns that they used to make? I may have a lead on one locally, being a Baer and rare I am tempted but curious how they hold up over time to carry and to use (5,000 , 10,000 or 50,000 plus rounds)

I have one and love it, but it will be a looooong time before I can give you a 50k round update!:eek1:

Seriously though, I think that Les said he wasn't going to make them anymore because he wasn't convinced that they would hold up past 100k rounds...I'll probably never get 10% of that on mine, so I think I can live with that!

    Like I said, I love mine! 20190501_194453.jpg

I to love my LW commander size built in 1995 and still as tight as a drum. Absolutely no idea of round count though do not much help there.

I replace a cracked Aluminum Baer frame for a customer a while back because it had developed a crack. Replaced it with a Caspian titanium frame. Not sure how many rounds had went through it but it looked well used.

Good to know since replacing the frame isn't an option in Kalifornia, part of my concern..

Can't you still complete an 80% frame there? Mosinvirus on YouTube is in Cali and he completes frames, or at least he has.

Yes I believe so, not my skill set and honestly.

I’m 99% sure I can’t have a smith build an 89% for me, manufacturing so....

I’d hate to replace a Baer with an 80% frame.

Is that an original thumb safety on the LW commander? looks challenging as to removing the grip panel. I see some battle marks in the checkering there.

I do not think so, it was on it when I got it. I thought I was going to change it but it turns out I really like it! So it stays

Mine came with that same thumb safety, which I replaced, but still have the original.
