Brownells used to sell draw files years ago. They were 6 x 1 1/2 inches. They quit carrying them at some point and I have been unable to locate anything like them. So thought I would ask the forum and see if anyone has ran across them somewhere.

    Thanks IMG_7121.JPG

I've not seen them available in years. Everyone has replaced hand work with machines, to make more money I suspect. Progress. ;)

Well not quite everyone has lol. I still do everything by hand.:) But you are probably correct by saying most have went the machine route. Guess I am the last one with a toolbox full of files and stones lol.

No Sir, you are not. But then I build these for myself mostly and am not trying to make a living at it.

Disclaimer: I do have a mill and lathe in addition to my files and stones. :D

I'm with Mr Miller. Mill and lathe but still use quite a few files and stones. Some things are easier with one or the other

Thanks for the links. Guess this was just an odd ball file Brownells made at one time. I will just make something after the ones I have completely die :o.o:. Was worth a shot to ask.

You can also send the file you have out to be resharpened. It is much more economical than buying new when it comes to good quality files. I've had my draw file for 16 years or so and love it. Should be able to get another couple of years before another sharpening.

Yeah thats a great idea and I would have never thought of it. Thanks for that. We must have bought our files about the same time mine is 16-17 yrs old. I always use it to cut flattops in slides. Can you send me the website address of the people you use?
