    Short and sweet.

What is the very first 1911 that you fell in love with as soon as you seen it. Do you own it now or ever had?
    What is it?

I had owned a few 1911 over the years, but the first one that got me hooked on the platform was my Wilson 1996a2. I bought it used in 2011 and still have it, and as a matter of fact, it’s one of the “sacred cows” of my inventory that will never be sold or traded.

My original Colt Series 70 .38 Super. Bought it for myself when I turned 21. Got stolen in a break in 4 years later.

Took me another 30 years to find another that I could afford, and then I found two . . . .

One is a safe queen, the other a rodeo queen . . .

Originally purchased by my dad through the NRA in 1961 is a Colt 1911 manufactured in February 1942. I took it to Terry Tussey, when he was local to me, (The home of Cowboy Action Shooting was off Orange-Olive Road in Orange, CA) and had Terry turn me out a pistol that is still my favorite! She may have a big nose, but boy howdy she is comfortable and easy to get along with at any time!

Wilson Combat CQB 45. Have wanted one for a long time. For me it was the ultimate 1911. After many years of wanting one I sold several guns and bought one. It is everything I thought it would be. Love it 20200422_143101.jpg .

This Marc Krebs Colt Commander is mine, even though I've owned many other 1911s before and since. I had a revolver built by Marc and looked for one of his 1911 carry guns for a couple of years before this one showed up on gunbroker. As soon as I saw it I knew I'd be buying it, it was just a matter of waiting to see how much I'd have to pay. And it was worth it, it is an outstanding gun, a package that is the definition the whole being greater than the sum of it's parts.

I made the mistake of letting a sales guy hand me a Wilson Combat 1911 and said “rack the slide”......he had me at “rack the slide”. At that time I had owned a number of 1911’s but never aWilson Combat... I was sold.

I had 6 Smith & Wesson 2 1/2” and 3” “k” frames then and started selling them off until I had enough $$$ to buy a CQB Compact. I had it for a number of years, don’t have it now.

A cased Colt by Ted Yost. The first time I saw one he was still at Heirloom Precision and I was no where close to being able to afford one. Years passed but the dream did not subside. Fortunately I was able to commission this one a couple years ago.
