Looks like they may have been within their rights

    Missouri Castle Doctrine

Missouri recognizes the "castle doctrine" and allows residents to use deadly force against intruders based on the notion that your home is "your castle." This legal doctrine assumes that if an invader disrupts the sanctity of your home, they intend to do you harm and therefore you should be able to protect yourself or others against an attack.

Missouri's law is more extensive than those of other states because it allows you to use
deadly force to attack an intruder to protect any private property that you own, in addition to yourself or another individual. This means that if someone illegally enters your front porch or backyard, you can use deadly force against them without retreating first.

This could be a very interesting case if these people are attorneys themselves. Nothing illegal about standing around on your own property holding a firearm to deter. Reckless handling maybe, but if the protestors had weapons, as alleged in the police report and were shouting threats, that sounds like a potential argument for defensive display.

They may need training on guns but good for them for standing their ground. I pray none of us need to do the same.

Exactly the problem! As far as I’m concerned the minute they BROKE through that gate it might as well have been their front door!
They do need training but have more balls than most, probably even on here.
My .02 take it for what it’s worth If they were coming down my street I would be sitting on my porch with everything I thought I could ever need!

I did not previously realize about the broken gate,. If you are not going to use your firearms to defend your rights and property in a case like this, when are you going to do so?

Media doesn't even like to mention it's private property . As long as St.Louis has Krewsen for a mayor and Gardner for a prosecutor it'll get worse .

Apparently they did not break the gate to gain access. The video of the protestors first entering shows that gate intact. Must have been broken later.

Not the point. Breaking the gate is destruction of property.... the fact that a mob of people were where they were... was trespassing on posted private property.

Thanks Mouche for posting the video. That guy was obviously scared, he should've left the wife inside for sure. Glad nobody got hurt, that lady running around waving that pocket pistol around is a bad look though.

If nothing else this shows the need for training , and learning the law . These homeowners are lawyers , and mistakes were made . In Missouri we have the Castle Doctrine , but a slick prosecutor will get around it . It's also against the law to brandish a firearm . Gardner is a slick , lying , POS . Hopefully these lawyers are good .

I was wondering when that area would get hit. Sometimes it’s better to be tucked in with the peasants.

His wife shouldn’t have been out there. He was in the right. I’d like to see more people standing up like that. If the cops aren’t allowed to, someone has to. Our mayor is incompetent.

They are probably liberals that just got turned and went to buy themselves AR's since the riot/covid 19 started. Cut them some slacks and thank God no one got hurt. But i don't see anything wrong with them protecting their property.
