Springfield is famous for 6 o’clock hold sights, you may want a taller front sight. I think they use a .350 rear.

I actually LIKE A 6:00 hold on a defensive pistol. Gives me a clearer, less obstructed view of the bad guy. Aim ofr center of mass, pop him in the thoracic cavity.

Well three attempts. The first: two hands resting on the table. The worst. 5.5in

The next two hands standing un supported. The best 3.25in

1 hand unsupported. Not frickin bad. 5in

Had three more tries at this today, unsupported cold before starting my normal session. Didnt bring a tape measure so I used a mag for measurement. Looks like im around 1.5” - 3” between my 3 attempts.

Made it out today. 18 degrees with a 3 deg windchill. Winter just not quite giving up yet, but I like the cold….way less mud.

I didn’t do too hot with my .45 1911. Groups were in 3-4” range.

Broke out my S&W 44 mag, and gave it 3 tries. I’m not a bench rest shooter, so used my rolled up poncho liner as a rest for my arms and hoped for the best.
This is my deer hunting revolver, so I only have one kind of ammo for it. Hornady 240 gr XTP.

My first group was a 0.946”, but my second group was the best at about 0.701”. Third group went downhill a bit. lol

Haven’t shot it in several years, but the nice thing about it, is it makes a 45 feel like a poodle chootin’ 9mm. 😉
If I can somehow get out next weekend, I will give the Chamber 9mm a try. It should do pretty well with this task.

Finally got out to the range this morning while everyone was at church! Staccato P Limited Edition, bone stock, unsupported. 2.86" and 2.80" were my best, and last, strings.

Tried again today with only a .45 1911 this time.
I tried supported off the picnic table again, but I just cannot get the hang of how I’m supposed to do it properly. I can hold it dead on with decent grip and zero wobble, but the groups don’t lie. Hahaha

So…went the unsupported route with a relatively wobbly sight picture and do better. Guess I don’t feel like a fish outta water this way. Best I could get today was about 1.92” with a commander 1911 in 45 ACP. Always gotta be that one flier!!

Ditto, here. What the he!! Is it with that. I tried supported before going back - see the support and birdshot scatter on the left side of the target. Shot my 2 best unsupported I posted above immediately after that. Maybe if I was sitting at a rifle bench would be better.
