That is cool. I like. I want an 1895 so bad, probably be my next rifle.
Here's a pic before I put the Ultra Dot on it.
Lovely. I totally want one in FDE. No idea what kind of optic I'd put on it though.
That is a great looking lever gun.....
If you buy one, you should buy an older one not made by Remington. This one is a "Remlin" and the front iron sight was clocked to the right and most screw heads buggered up. I replaced all the bad screws and put the Ultra Dot on it as I don't plan on any long range shooting with it.
I did not bother to send it back to Remington because of horror stories from people who sent theirs back and got even worse returned to them! Remington has since (this year) shut down production and trying to get their assembly operations corrected before putting out anymore faulty rifles. Most feel this is actually the end of Marlin (as we knew it).
Look for one with "JM" proof mark on left side of barrel near receiver (REAL MARLIN) and stay away from anything with a "REP" proof mark on the right side of the barrel near the receiver (Remington). Something in the 1990's would be best.
Need to start reloading to feed it tho.. that Leverevolution ammo aint cheap...
NO it ain't cheap, that's for sure! But my Son has a .338 Lapua Magnum and the cost of that ammo makes the 45-70 seem cheap!
Very nice rifle!
I think I see the "JM" proof mark on the left side of your barrel near the receiver?
It sure is.. good eye my friend.. also miwall makes some relatively cheap cowboy ammo yanno only a buck compared to a buck fifty a shot.. pretty soft shooting compared to the Hornady..
This gun is awesome. Period.

I had an older, blued and compensated, model and it was a slick little hog gun.
After having my shoulder surgery, the ortho Doc suggested I give up the hard-kickers.
I really miss them though. The little H&R in .500 S&W was another favorite at the time.
Love those 45-75 carbines!
Love the .45-70... I have a sharps.. the round is about perfect for anything in north america!
I love my Marlin Guide gun in .45-70. :thumb:
