My first 1911 pistol. Is it really made in 1954?

I got my first pistol from 1911 but have little information about it, look on the colt page and the information says it's from 1954, can that be true? I want to restore it, it is very battered but despite this, I am fascinated with this pistol, someone who did not treat it well was the owner but I fell in love with it. I have to fix it.

This guy manages to type out a full title in the subject and goes full Spanish in the post.

Yeah it's a '54, it started as a .45 ACP. Does it run OK? Just a shooter if it will run, not worth restoration in my opinion. Congrats on your first 1911 and welcome to the forum.

Este tipo se las arregla para escribir un título completo en el asunto y lo escribe en español en la publicación.

Asombroso…

Perdón por publicar esto y me emocioné y olvidé revisarlo.
Sí, es un '54, comenzó como un .45 ACP. ¿Funciona bien?

not really at all, when firing the last bullet the slide is not mounted.

That's unfortunate, you could possibly have it changed back to .45 but it may be cost prohibitive.

Also, I thought to do that. But I would like to stay with the 9mm caliber, in my country it is difficult to obtain 45 caliber. Do you have any idea how I could do to solve this problem?

Plenty of great gunsmith advice here but regrettably I'm not qualified. Someone should be along shortly to help.
Welcome to the site. No reason at all not to do some restoration on it and get it running if you like it. I wouldn’t go overboard but improving the function and finish might not be too costly although I don’t know what services are available in your area. It’s usually somewhat difficult to diagnose/fix issues without having the pistol in one’s hands.
