Mark IV Series 80 Government Model. Yeah... Acquired two days ago. Hope to get to shoot it Monday. It didn't come with these Walnut Grips (see below), but I like'em best for now.

Nice looking Colt. Those 320's look like they were made for that pistol.

Looks good to me! I like the walnut grips you put on it; I think they give it a nice vintage feel. The flattened slide top is interesting as well.

    Thanks for sharing. :thumb:

Put the 320's on it a few days ago. The walnut ones are on my Commander and looking just right.

Nice find! I think the fully checkered hardwood is great on this or the commander.

You guys may have read me hinting around about picking up a Baer soon, but I saw a picture recently that has me playing with idea of putting a Baer's worth of dollars into this Colt. It'd be no Heirloom but it'd still be pretty sweet.

I usually tend toward another gun over changing one. But this Colt would be nice with an upswept beaver tail, checkered front strap, serrated flat top, Heinie sights, black ionbond slide, silver/black dymondwood double diamond grips, flush crown barrel and some reliability work, which it needs.

Or I could just get it bead blasted and worked for reliability and get the Baer. Decisions...

I think you might have a good platform already to create a pistol that is what you want it to be. I have taken what seemed like eons to refine what I wanted a little at a time and ended up with a few nice pistols and learned a little along the way. It was worth the patience and agonizing. Take your build list and list it in order of what will close the group sizes and save the cosmetics for last.
